Delete mails as a bulk from your gmail inbox

You can clean your gmail inbox quite simply by using bulk deletion option. This guide will provide an example of deleting all the unread emails from your inbox. Which is not limited to your page limit (e.g. 50) emails per time, you can delete all the emails at once with following simple guideline.

Steps to follow

1. Navigate to your gmail inbox.

2. Search email categories that you need to delete as a bulk.

Since this example explains on deleting all the unread emails, the search phrase is "is:unread" as shown in the following diagram.

Use your customized search phrase instead and press Enter to see results.

3. Click on the check box to select all.

Once the results are visible, click on the check box below the search option to select all the visible emails. This will select all the emails in the first page upon your customization. If you have configured it to show only 50 emails per page, it will select all the 50 emails appeared in the first page. But that is not the expected way here. See the sample below.

4. Select all matching conversations.

Only limited number of emails will be selected from the step 3 above. Then, we can continue selecting all the matching emails by clicking on "Select all conversations that match this search" option as appeared in the above figure (in step 3).

That will select all the matching emails instead of only in the first page. Once it is clicked, the confirmation will be appeared as follows.

This implies that all the unread emails have been selected now.

5. Delete all selected emails

Once all the required emails are selected, just use the same delete icon to delete all selected emails. Other than the normal deletion, this will ask for a confirmation to continue with the deletion since this is a bulk operation.

Once the delete icon being clicked, the following pop up confirmation will be displayed.

Press "OK" to continue deleting selected emails. This may take extra time than normal deletion based on the number of selected emails.

That's it and enjoy a clean gmail inbox!
