When we login into LinkedIn, we are using our primary email address which we have saved in our profile as the username. Sometimes users may need to change the email address in their LinkedIn account due to changing their professional email to another email, mistakenly use their private email which is not for official uses, or due to some similar situation. However, since LinkedIn is on top in rank for expanding the professional network, it is better to have a professional email address there. If you do not use your professional email address in LinkedIn yet, but you already have a LinkedIn account with significantly large professional network, do you really need to create a new LinkedIn account with your professional email address? What does it happen to your current network? Solution is pretty straightforward! You can change your email address in LinkedIn by few simple steps. This small article will explain how to change the primary email address in LinkedIn.
First, login into your account with existing username and password. After that you can follow the following steps.
1. Click on "Me" button on your account image.
2. Then click "Settings & Privacy" option. Refer the image below.
3. Click on "Account" tab on the next page.
4. Click on "Login and security" option from the left hand side options.
5. Click on "Email addresses" from the listing items. Refer the image below.
6. Click on "Add email address" button from bottom of that option. This shows your current primary email address too. Ex: admin@witcentre.com
7. Enter your new email address in the prompting text field as shown in the image below.
8. After you entered the correct email address, click on "Send verification" button. Refer the image below.
9. After clicking the "Send verification" button, it will ask you to enter the password as a security best practice. Enter you login password in "Password" field.
10. Click on "Done" button after entering the correct password. This will send a confirmation email for the new email address you provided. You cannot make it primary until you verify the email. Therefore, make
sure to enter a valid email address. Refer the image below.
** Go to your email inbox and open the new email received from LinkedIn [ use a new tab :) ]. Then, do confirm the new email addition into your account as mentioned in the email.
11. Now you might see that there is an option "Make primary". Click on it. This option is only available after confirming the email. Refer the image below.
You are done! Check your change. The new email must be shown as the Primary as in the image below. If you don't need to keep your old email, you can simply remove it by clicking the "Remove" button exists in the same line. Refer the image below.
Now you have to use your new primary email address as the username when login into LinkedIn (Ex: superadmin@witcentre.com). Logout from the current session. Then, login in back to your account using the new email address. Enjoy the journey! Grow your network!
